Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah Expresses Condolences to Congress Corporator Over Daughter’s Tragic Murder

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah extended heartfelt condolences to Niranjan Hiremath, a Congress corporator, following the tragic murder of his 23-year-old daughter, Neha, who was brutally stabbed by a former classmate on the premises of her college in Hubballi.

In a phone conversation with Hiremath on Tuesday, Siddaramaiah conveyed his profound sympathy, expressing, “Niranjan…very sorry. We will be on your side.” The Chief Minister assured the grieving father of the government’s unwavering support in seeking justice for the heinous crime.

The incident occurred on April 18 when Neha, a Masters of Computer Applications (MCA) student at BVB College, was attacked by the accused, Fayaz, inside the campus. CCTV footage captured the assailant stabbing Neha multiple times before fleeing the scene. Fayaz, also 23, has since been apprehended by authorities.

Following the tragic event, State Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK Patil visited Hiremath’s residence in Hubballi to offer condolences. Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah informed Hiremath about a CID probe into the case and the establishment of a special court to ensure swift justice.

Expressing gratitude for the government’s proactive steps, Hiremath requested expedited legal proceedings to deliver justice for his family. Siddaramaiah assured him, saying, “We will ensure it at the earliest.”

The Chief Minister’s gesture of solidarity with Hiremath comes in the wake of BJP national president JP Nadda’s visit to the grieving family. Nadda condemned the incident and criticized the government’s handling of the investigation, calling for a CBI enquiry if the state police were deemed incapable.

Hiremath echoed these sentiments, expressing a lack of trust in the police investigation and demanding a CBI probe into the matter. The tragedy has sparked outrage and calls for swift and transparent justice from various quarters in Karnataka.
