Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh: In a heartwarming gesture of communal harmony, a Muslim woman in Firozabad gave birth to a baby boy on the day of the consecration ceremony at the Ram temple in Ayodhya and named him ‘Ram Rahim.’ The symbolic name aims to convey a message of unity between Hindus and Muslims.

Dr. Naveen Jain, in-charge of the District Women’s Hospital, confirmed the joyful occasion, stating that the mother, Farzana, delivered a healthy baby boy on Monday. “Both the child and the mother are fine,” Dr. Jain assured. The child’s grandmother, Husna Banu, expressed her desire to name the baby ‘Ram Rahim’ as a gesture of promoting Hindu-Muslim unity.

Seema Dwivedi, acting in-charge of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department at Kanpur’s Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College, revealed that a total of 25 babies were born on the auspicious day, with 10 girls and the rest being boys, all in good health. Bharti Mishra, a mother who gave birth to a boy, named her child ‘Ram’ with the belief that it would positively influence the baby’s personality. Other mothers also chose names associated with Lord Ram, such as Raghav, Raghvendra, Raghu, and Ramendra.

In Sambhal district, a private nursing home in Chandausi featured a miniature Ram temple inside the delivery room. Pregnant women were given darshan by Lord Ram before delivery, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere. Dr. Vandana Saxena decorated the delivery room and the newborn baby’s room in saffron color, symbolizing religious significance. Six children, including three boys, were born on this day, and the boys were named after Lord Ram, while the girls were named Janaki and Sita.

In Bhadohi district, 33 children were born at the district hospital on Monday, coinciding with the Ram temple consecration in Ayodhya. Chief Medical Officer Santosh Kumar Chak mentioned that many mothers expressed their desire to deliver on January 22. Fifteen of the newborns are boys, 18 are girls, and around half were born by caesarean. Most parents chose names associated with Lord Ram or Goddess Sita for their children.

These heartening instances of naming newborns after Lord Ram on the day of the historic temple consecration reflect the spirit of unity and shared cultural heritage prevailing in Uttar Pradesh.
